Everything you need to know before your appointment

Being seen at Beckford Sports


  • You will need a referral from your GP or another health professional to see Dr Yaso Kathiravel.
  • You may contact the clinic directly to see any of the other providers, without a referral.
  • We will send you a email with appointment details for the earliest available date. Please reply to the email to ensure that your appointment is confirmed.
  • You will also receive by email information relating to the appointment. Kindly complete and return the paperwork prior to your appointment.
  • You will receive a text reminder the day before your appointment.


We understand that when you are injured, it is important to be seen as soon as possible. If your condition becomes worse while you’re waiting to be seen, please contact us if needed.

If you are unwell, please don’t come to your appointment - contact us, and we will reschedule. Your vaccination status will be requested at the time of booking and we will recommend a suitable consultation option. 

What To Expect On The Day

Please arrive 5-10 minutes prior to your appointment. We have ample free onsite parking.


On arrival, please ring the bell and take a seat, your provider will be aware that you have arrived.

Please wear comfortable clothing that allows full access to the area of concern (for example, wear shorts for a lower leg injury and a singlet or sports bra for a shoulder injury).


During your consultation:

  • Your specialist will address your injury and discuss a personalised management plan to support your recovery.
  • You will have plenty of opportunities to ask questions; it’s important to us that you have all the information you need for a successful return to sport and well being.

  • Sport and Exercise Physician

    You don’t have to be an elite athlete to see a Sport and Exercise Physician! 


    Sports and Exercise Physicians are doctors that have undertaken specialist training in musculoskeletal, sporting injuries and illnesses. They focus on identifying what the problem is and develop a personalised treatment plan. 


    Sport and Exercise Physicians utilise their experience of caring for athletes and apply them to all patients from recreational athletes to dancers and to service personnel such as the military and police.

  • Sports and Exercise Scientist

    An exercise scientist  is the best kept secret in Sports Medicine and Elite Sport!


    Using science to optimise human performance and help you to reach your true full potential.

    Exercise science ensures that there is no “ guesswork “ and that every performance and health goal is measured. 


    Exercise scientists assist coaches in personalising your training allowing you to maximise performance.


    They coordinate specialist tests such as lactate testing , body composition and VO2 max to determines that your training is at your peak.


    Whatever your aim is, be it training for a marathon or improving general wellness, physiological assessments can help you achieve your goal.

Cancellation

We understand that life can be unpredictable! If you’re unable to attend your appointment, please call or email us to reschedule. We ask that you give us as much notice as possible; if you simply don’t show up, another patient loses the opportunity to be seen. 


If you miss your appointment and we are not contacted within 24h, you will be liable for the full cost of the consultation.
